INTERVIEW:
1. Please tell us a little bit about your business/site?
Daddyscrubs Comfort Wear is a line of medical scrubs, t-shirts, and accessories that have our trademarked “I’m the Daddy” logo on them. Our unique brand was created by a Dad (me) for dad’s in every stage of fatherhood – from first time dad’s to more experienced fathers like myself who are welcoming new kids!
We built our brand around the premise of making dads feel special and comfortable during one life’s most exciting (and stressful) times such as labor, delivery and beyond.
All comfort wear from DaddyScrubs products are available exclusively online.
2. How long have you been in business? How did you get your business started?
We launched the business in late September – four days after the birth of our new baby boy – Lincoln. Needless to say, it was an exciting time all the way around!
The idea for our business came about when we learned that my wife Katy was pregnant. I have 4 grown kids already, so I knew from firsthand experience that oftentimes Dad’s are stuck in uncomfortable street clothes while comforting their laboring wives – sometime for more than 24 hours at a time.
We did some research and quickly realized that there was nothing in the marketplace geared towards helping fathers to be comfortable during this hectic time. So my wife and I initially came up with the idea of marketing medical scrubs to expectant dads. Then we took it a step further in an effort to eliminate the confusion between “who’s the doctor” and “who’s the daddy,” we created the concept of “I’m the Daddy!”
The cool thing about the DaddyScrubs brand is that it reaches beyond “Dad” –to provide the perfect gift to be given from Mom’s, sisters, sisters-in-laws, and wives to that special “father” in their lives.
3. Is your business online, or a physical location or both?
Daddyscrubs Comfort Wear is only available online at www.daddyscrubs.com at the present time. However, we plan to expand our brand to hospitals and baby stores nationwide, as well as to other online retailers next year.
4. What do you enjoy most about running your business/site?
I am entrepreneur at heart and most of my business ventures have been related to the medical field - I am a Pharmacist by trade. So most of my dealings are with serious matters – medications, physicians, patients, etc.
But DaddyScrubs has been such a pleasant change as I am able to use my creative side, plus work with a fun, feel-good product that we know fills a void in the marketplace for Dads.
The best part though is that my customers are people experiencing one of life’s greatest joys – children! Our customers range from an expectant dad that buys the scrubs for himself to wear while his wife is in labor — to wives, mothers, or mother-in-laws buying “I’m the Daddy “ scrubs, t-shirts, and coffee mugs as a gift for the special dad in their lives. There’s just an underlying excitement from our customers that makes what we do very rewarding.
5. Is there a favorite product or service that you offer?
Our product line is very targeted – we offer medical scrubs and t-shirts and a few accessories – so I am a fan of them all. However, I can honestly tell you that wearing the “I’m the Daddy” medical scrubs during the labor and delivery of my 5th child – just over two weeks ago – was a great experience.
My wife Katy was in labor for almost 24 hours – so being in something comfortable made a huge difference. I was able to get some sleep while Katy slept, and didn’t have to deal with uncomfortable street clothes. The beauty of the medical scrubs is that they’re acceptable to walk around the hospital and yet comfortable enough to sleep in!
So now, I can say – not only am I president of DaddyScrubs, but I am a customer too!
6. Anything else you would like to share about your business? Being a working parent? Etc…
I truly love wearing the shirts and scrubs – I where them almost daily, as the proud daddy to my new baby Lincoln. When I’m out and about wearing my “ I’m the Daddy” t-shirts I get nothing but good vibes, smiles, and congratulations from those around me – even from people I don’t know! I am finding that almost everywhere I go, there are either expectant parents, or someone who knows someone who is expecting. My goal is to provide something to new Dad’s that makes them feel proud and special to be a father.
Daddyscrubs is offering free shipping through 12-12-09 on all orders!

I think my husband would enjoy Daddy scrubs because not only is he a hands on dad and workaholic who lets nothing stop him from giving all he can to our five kids, but he also took on the dad role with my oldest three kids from a previous relationship, who didnt have a good father figure.Something as cute and comfy to come home and put on,would be a great treat for my deserving hubby =0)

My husband is obsessed with being THE DAD and the best one at that, so he’d LOVE to wear anything pointing out a reminder to everyone that he’s The Daddy!!!
